Black Brant Geese

Black Brant Geese

Black Brant Geese are in the Black geese family.  These waterfowl migrate just like our North American Canadian Geese.

Black Brant Geese feed like of members of the goose and swan families.  Black Brant Geese typically feed on pupae and larvae found under rocks or near swampy marsh areas.  They also enjoy snails, crabs, and small fish.

Black Brant Geese are not considered to be in the "true goose" family but are disputed.  However, being classified as geese they doing carry the characteristics of geese.  Molting, breeding, nesting and feeding patterns are similar; including being monogamous (single mates for life.)

Look for this beautiful goose on your next adventure throughout most North America!
